Recently, into Heathrow’s Terminal 3, the Hill Cross team installed a unique and even ‘vintage’ take on banquette seating. The difference was the upholstered material. This beautiful ‘vintage look’ leather was supplied by ‘International Leather Products’ and is called Antique Tudor Ox Blood from their ‘Vintage Collection’.
When this leather first arrived it surprised a few people at Hill Cross due to its cracked and vintage appearance. It definitely has a distinct on-trend look to it that many of our clients are after. We are continually asked for distressed or vintage looking leather and this seems to fit the description, although it seems to be one those ‘love it or hate it’ products. The Antique Tudor leather has a special top finish that is designed to crack when stressed, revealing an authentic vintage/antique look.
The booth banquette that Hill Cross installed had a very fitting deep buttoned back style, which when finished in this Antique Tudor leather looks truly stunning. This piece wouldn’t look out of place in any bar or restaurant wanting to achieve that vintage chic feel.
Adding further to this unique banquette, the base of the seating has also a split line running the full length of the front of the seat pad including the sides. While this is something we are rarely asked for, it is something we can definitely offer and would give a different dimension to your banquette seating.
In addition to the booth banquette, we also installed ‘bench style’ seating with a upholstered style we’ve never manufactured here before until now. This was a diamond stitched back which involved using a padding called Dacron and then stitching in the diamond pattern to the correct dimensions by our on site seamstresses. These small benches were finished in another ILP leather called ‘Windsor’. Very smart.
Overall we were impressed with this interesting ‘vintage-feel’ cafe seating. Here at Hill Cross Furniture we’re always keen to work on new bespoke design and unique materials.
