POLYPROPYLENE OR WOODEN RESTAURANT CHAIRS – THE PROS AND CONS

Plastic chairs are ideally suited for most environments but look best within airports, schools, hospitals, canteens, fast food restaurants and arenas. They are possibly the best selling chair in the world as they are highly durable with high impact resistance.

Most Polypropylene, or plastic chairs are stacking, which make them an excellent choice when extra seating is required to accommodate large parties. And whilst a vast majority of wooden chairs are available as stacking chairs, polypropylenes are relatively lighter in weight, making it easier for restaurant staff to move around.

Consider how plastic chairs will look within your restaurant. Depending on their design they can greatly affect your customer’s perception of your food even without ever having a bite. Customers may not dine within your restaurant as they may feel that such furniture has a cheap look. However, choosing a high end design polypropelene chair can overcome this problem.

Polypropylene can be easy cleaned and disinfected – essential within a restaurant environment where cleanliness is demanded.  Wooden chairs, on the other hand, need to be carefully looked after. You cannot use harsh chemical sprays as this can cause discolourations on wood surfaces.

You will find the colour choices are endless whether you decide on plastic  or wooden. You can choose from a rainbow of primary and pastel colours and you can even mix and match them to create your desired look and feel. Any RAL colours can be used to create many different wood finishes and is bang-on- trend this season.  Although beware of mismatching your chair colours or they could look garish within your venue.

In summary, polypropylene chairs offer lightweight manoeuvrability and are brilliant for outdoors – something wooden chairs can’t offer. But both are available in a vast palette of colours, and whilst you may think the plastic option are cheaper in comparison,  top end designs can sometimes cost more than the wooden alternative. Wood is a classy design choice and a healthy looking  chair will look vibrant and shiny in your restaurant. There are literally thousands of wooden frames  to choose from plus thousands of colours and finishes too, so you can create your own bespoke wooden chair.

As a restaurant owner you must consider all the pros and cons and consider which furniture is most appropriate for your establishment.
