Woodbender was founded in 1988 by the Mast family, who were inspired by their love of woodworking and desire to learn more about the art of bending. They specialised in bending strong hardwood lumber from the beginning, restoring a closely-guarded practise dating back to 1700 Europe. Teaching themselves how to bend kiln-dried wood and constructing most of the bespoke machinery necessary via trial and error. Over the previous three decades, They’ve experimented with a variety of woods and styles to arrive at our current collection of bentwood chairs and stools, which are all made from sustainably produced Ash wood from certified forests.
